ANALYSIS OF CAT-19-EASY TO MODERATE-SLOT 1 AND 2

Every year Lakhs of management courses aspirants participate in CAT, as to get into dream Management College (which almost everyone dreams of IIMs). CAT-2019 was conducted on 24th November 2019 in approx 156 countries in India in 2 slots; near to 2.4 Lakhs students took part in CAT-19. The exam was as always Computer Based Test with 100 questions to attempt and was organized by IIM KozhikodeCAT is the nation’s most popular and most important management entrance test. CAT-19-Slot 1 Report
As per our students and team, the difficulty level of CAT-19 Slot 1 paper can be judged as easy to moderate, DILR section in the exam observed a rather easy questions as compared to previous year’s question paper, and so did the Quant part, it can be said that the aptitude section of the CAT-19 slot 1 can be defined as an moderate question paper and can be dealt easily with a strong background knowledge and focus. But same cannot be said in the case of VA-RC section, VA-RC section has been judged to a difficult level as comparison to previous 3 years question papers.
There were no changes in the number of questions, pattern of questions, type and concentration of questions in every section. There were 34 questions in VA-RC part, 32 questions in DI-LR part and 34 questions in quant.
Now, let’s discuss section wise details.
  • Quantitative Aptitude Section-There were no unexpected changes in the quantitative section, the section consisted of 34 questions, out of which there were 23 MCQs and 11 Non-MCQs Question in the Quant section. The difficulty level can be termed as moderate as compared to last year’s question paper.

  • DI-LR Section-DI-LR section too didn’t observed any changes in pattern, or concentration of questions, as always the DI-LR section consisted of 32 questions which was hence divided as 8 sets which has 4 questions each. The difficulty level of the DI-LR section was also moderate as compared to previous 3 year’s question papers.

  • VA-RC Section-VA-RC section was the surprise of the whole test, the difficulty level of VA-RC section was high as compared to others, however there were no major changes in the test, the section as always consisted of 34 questions, which  as comprised of 24 questions in RC and 10 questions in VA section.

CAT-19-Slot 2 Report
As the CAT-19-Slot 1, Slot 2 also didn’t observe any major changes in question paper, pattern, composition and type of questions etc. There were only one dissimilarity between slot 1 and slot 2 of CAT-19, which is of higher difficulty level in DI-LR section as compared to that in Slot 1, but then too VA-RC section observed same level of difficulty as slot 1 which was higher than previous year question papers, and the Quant section was moderate and almost same as the slot 1 level.
There were no changes in the number of questions, pattern of questions, type and concentration of questions in every section. There were 34 questions in VA-RC part, 32 questions in DI-LR part and 34 questions in quant.
Now, let’s discuss section wise details.
  • Quantitative Aptitude Section-Quant section was almost same as the slot 1 pattern, composition of questions and type of question paper (difficulty level), Quant section comprised of 34 questions, out of which there were 23 MCQs and 11 Non-MCQs Question in the Quant section. The difficulty level can be termed as moderate as compared to last year’s question paper.

  • DI-LR Section-The difficulty level of slot 2 question papers was a bit higher than the 1st slot, rather than the difficulty level, DI-LR section didn’t observed any major change. As always the DI-LR section consisted of 32 questions which were hence divided as 8 sets which have 4 questions each.

  • VA-RC Section-VA-RC section observed same difficulty level as the difficulty level in VA-RC section in slot 1, , however there were no major changes in the test, the section as always consisted of 34 questions, which  as comprised of 24 questions in RC and 10 questions in VA section.
