ARE YOU CAT REPEATER IN 2019?

Guide for CAT repeaters
CAT has no limit on number of times you can take the test, so don’t be harsh on yourself if you didn’t score respected marks the first time. There is road ahead to be explored more.
CAT is a nationwide management test that is taken by lacs of graduates every year in process of getting admission in one of the finest MBA colleges all over country. MBA is a dream for many youngsters nowadays, MBA has gained the most popularity in the Indian education system, and why shouldn’t it gained the popularity it has received, it has top notch level of knowledge imparting, managerial positions, superior salaries, respected position in big corporate and what not. CAT-2019 is to be scheduled on 24th November, so brush up your topics and start grinding the midnight’s lamp. Many premium B-Schools in Delhi/Pune/Bangalore have seen a massive growth in student intake as well as increase in recruiters too.
Despite such a good environment for CAT aspirant, many students don’t qualify the CAT benchmark to attain admission in a certain college. So this is the message is dedicated to those bunch of management aspirants.
Problems in the first time CAT aspirants
  • Complex Structure- Apart from the fact that syllabus is basic 10th level only; the questions structured are sometimes complex but not much if you dealt with logic and had done enough practice with the particular topics.
  • Proper Guidance- Some students also lag behind due to not having proper guidance at their disposal, CAT is unlike any other national level entrance test so the preparation should be likewise.
  • Competition- CAT being the most popular and most attempted management entrance test of India, the competition is brutal. But remember it isn’t an “Uncrackable exam”
  • The engineers Outburst- Over the time MBA has become the favorite higher studies and career for IT grads. And accept it or not Engineers has some upper hand on the CAT pattern, but colleges wants diversity in their MBA batches, so it’s not all engineer focused.
Strategies for the CAT repeaters
If you have already taken CAT once or twice, you must’ve known the basics of exam, syllabus etc. so we will not talk about that.
  • Time management- If you’re finding it difficult, start your preparation much before the next scheduled date I would say about 8-9 months prior, first brush up the entire basics of Quant, VA-RC and DI-LR and allot timings for each of those parts.
  • Practice Harder- For cracking CAT, you will need a extensive practice routine, practice everything amongst questions from previous years, online materials, books, coaching materials etc and make it a habit to give dedicated time daily.
  • Form a strategy- If you have a proper strategy at the time of taking exams and even giving mock tests, you will be able to get more time and even look on those problems in exam taking which you previously hadn’t.
  • Analyze + Assess- Analyze your mistakes from your previous takes on CAT, and assess them in order to quantify those mistakes so that you can avoid those mistakes in future.
  • Give Mocks- You should include giving mock test at least twice every week, increase it as the D-Day is near, it will boost your mural and understanding of type of questions asked.
  • Know your strong and weak areas- By this time you must have known what your strong and weak points are, focus to enhance your strong points and work on weak points. If you would waste your time on practicing or attempting questions that are not in your comfortability zone, you might not be able to solve and you would have wasted much time, so it would be better if you give only that much time on weak areas that is acceptable in your time limit.
  • Increase comfortability- Sometimes students gets scared at first glimpse of type of questions but that shouldn’t the case, you should read a lot and solve as much questions that you put hand of, either you will be able to solve it or not but either way you will know and be familiar with the type of questions.
At last I would urge you to not to lose hope, keep trying, the sun will shine!
