HOW TO CRACK INTERVIEW IN TOP B-SCHOOLS?

Interview process is one the most crucial stage in getting into top MBA colleges of our dream.  Many people today finds it difficult to cope up with the interview process, whether it would be due to their language barrier or confidence issues or lacks of understanding of the questions asked. Today as you know all the top MBA colleges in Delhi, Bangalore and Pune have included interview process in their total admission process. So, the need for a guide to interview is more than important than ever. B-school’s interview is becoming more and more arduous, and so the measure of un comfortability amongst a pretty large part of students is rising to every academic session.
Common problems during interview
  • Language Barrier- Some MBA aspirants only lack behind due to proper English speaking skills, they being equipped with all other academic skills but are not able to express it properly due to difficulty in framing it in English. This is common amongst students from Hindi medium students.
  • Confidence-  Confidence is the one problem which is prevalent in not only in interviewing but also everywhere and anywhere, some students due to lack of confidence and fear of judgment are not able to precise their speech during interview process.
  • Lack of proper education- Sometimes it happens, that in the interview process students lack behind as they have not received any training or formal education to cope up with the interview process.
  • Knowledge- Students also didn’t get through interview as they are not familiar with the questions asked in the interview.  Whether they don’t the pattern of questions to be asked in the interview or they don’t take it seriously but lack knowledge is also a important factor.

Measures to cope with interview
  • Reading and Learning Language- The first problem to tackle is language, to overcome with this you can read newspapers, learn new words, try to write articles yourself and try to use as much English as you can in your daily. By doing this you will be preparing for both Verbal aptitude section of CAT/MAT and other exams and for interviews too.
  • Be confident- Being confident can help oneself in every area. Be it cracking interview for any top MBA college or anywhere where you need to qualify by imparting through speech. There is no theory on how to be confident, but you can always try public speaking or taking trial interviews, but that always in English.
  • Train yourself- If you can’t attend some formal interview training sessions, and by the way if you get the right guidance during those sessions, they can be very helpful, but that’s not possible for everyone taking CAT/MAT or other exams, so try to train yourself, read books and train your mind + attitude in coping up with norms related to particular interview. There are also many interview related videos and blog available online, you can take notes from there too.
  • Knowledge-  Learning new things is never a harm to anyone, and when it comes to interview in top management collegesyou need to be familiar with all the current topics and politics and also about India/World economical policies or changes in markets. By doing this you will be prepared for group discussion session, personal interview and also for some colleges who includes GK in their syllabus.
