HOW TO CHOOSE WHICH MANAGEMENT TEST IS FOR YOU?
As of 2019, there are enough management college’s entrance test to make aspirants confused on giving one exam and not giving another. There are 6 nationalized tests approved by AICTE (GMAT, CAT, MAT, ATMA, NMAT, XAT and CMAT), and apart from there are personal tests for some colleges such as SNAP, IIFT, etc, and over them there are management entrance test in mostly every state like Maharashtra has MH-CET, today most top MBA colleges in Delhi/Pune/Bangalore would accept scores of CAT, CMAT, XAT or MAT. But then also it is a valid reason to ask yourself a question which exam to give and which exam to leave. As not in every management entrance test you can excel, or if you can excel too I don’t see point in choosing a same college through a likes of CAT and MAT. So what derives a MBA aspirant in choosing say CAT, I think there is more than one factor that you can take into account on whether to choose a particular entrance test over other.
Factors considerable in choosing a MBA entrance Test
- Area of expertise- Not everyone can be good in all the subject that there is, some people are good in Quant other s have an upper hand on Reasoning while some thrive in English. And this applies to management tests too, so choose wisely what your area of expertise is and choose according to it.
- Location- If you want to pursue your MBA from a particular location, like say you want a decent MBA college in Mumbai, So in order to make sure you get it you can take MH-CET, as MH-CET is entrance test dedicated to entrance in MBA colleges in Maharashtra region. Similarly there are state entrance tests and also if you need to go abroad for MBA you can choose GMAT as an option.
- Choice of college- If you’ve made up your mindset and shortlisted colleges from which you want to earn an MBA, as some colleges are listed in a particular entrance test and some college organizes their own entrance tests like SNAP etc. So you can take exams according to it, like if you want to get admission in one of the IIMS so you should definitely appear for CAT and if you want to settle for second tier MBA colleges you can appear for CMAT or MAT.
- Choice of stream- As of stream, I speak of different fields in MBA like Finance, Marketing, and HR etc. Not all college are equally efficient in all the fields, some college are very good in HR but not as good in finance, so if you have chosen from which stream you want to pursue your MBA, so you can accept or reject certain management test.
- Other Factors- There is also very miscellaneous factors which affect choice of a MBA college, like cost of living, fees structure, placements and recruitments. And if you can analyze these certain colleges and fit into your bracket. Some people have a low budget for fees and accommodations some have higher, while some people want to attain placements in a certain field etc, so the decisions can be made accordingly.
